Promoting wellbeing and self-management, relaxation, sensory art, music and our Sensory Room
Those that choose to come to our Pampering session will be able to choose from having their nails painted, a foot or hand massage or a foot spa. This will give the service users a chance to relax as well as build on their self-confidence. This will be a 1-hour treatment per person.
This is a 1 hour class in which we focus on stretching ligaments and the use of dumbbell weight to strengthen and grow muscle to assist service users in posture and flexibility. It is low impact and high intensity to get the heart pumping and the blood flowing. It is a wonderful way to incorporate physical activity and mental wellbeing. Doing exercise is known to realise natural endorphins in to the body that make you feel energetic.
Sensory Art is exploring all aspects of artistic methods in a calming, therapeutic environment, with a high level of sensory input. This session allows individuals to express their feelings and emotions through non-conventional means.
Through the use of artistic techniques, we can explore various ways in which to create a sensory experience. The class is not only about craft but more about the process of exploring the senses. The experience is multi-sensory, we will often have calming music playing to create an atmosphere.
The Sensory Room
The Sensory Room is ‘creative as therapeutic’ for service users to come in and relax. A calming space, the room can be accessed through a booking system at any time.
Our fantastic yoga instructor Natalie provides an hour of relaxation and poses over 2 days for our service users to engage in. This is a popular session and has found to be helpful in reducing service users’ anxiety as well as improving their flexibility.
